Resumen

Objetivos
INTRODUCCIÓN Y OBJETIVOS
La evaluación precisa del estado de los ganglios linfáticos axilares es esencial en el manejo del cáncer de mama.
En la actualidad, la biopsia selectiva del ganglio centinela (BSGC) es la técnica de elección para la estadificación de la axila. Su práctica reduce la necesidad de linfadenectomía y su morbilidad. No obstante, al ser una técnica invasiva presenta complicaciones como linfedema, parestesias o seroma. Además supone un aumento en los costes totales y en el tiempo para recibir tratamiento. Por este motivo se están investigando técnicas de imagen no invasivas como la ecografía axilar y RM para la estadificación axilar del cáncer de mama. A pesar de que existe gran variedad de técnicas, la ecografía axilar y la RM, son las más usadas.
