Describir los hallazgos radiológicos del síndrome de Lady Windermere y realizar una breve revisión de esta entidad.
Revisión del tema
El síndrome de Lady Windermere es un epónimo acuñado por primera vez por Reich y Johnson en 1992 para describir 6 casos de mujeres inmunocompetentes sin enfermedad respiratoria previa, que presentaban infección por Myco-bacterium avium complex (MAC) a nivel del lóbulo medio y/o la língula [1].
La infección pulmonar por micobacterias ambientales (MA) viene adquiriendo cada vez mayor importancia epidemiológica tanto en personas sin enfermedad previa como en inmunodeprimidos. En España, MAC es globalmente considerada la segunda MA en prevalencia, por detrás de Mycobacterium kansasii, aunque es la que más afecta a la población VIH positiva [2-8].
